Jiayuan.com, China’s leading dating website, has recruited Price Water house Coopers for its auditing and preparation to get listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market, according to a tech.qq.com report Thursday, citing sources close to the deal.
They are expect to get listed sometime in the first half of 2011 and plans to raise over $100 Million. If the deal gets completed, it will become China’s first listed dating website. I guess dating is popular everywhere, even in the communist land of China. It appears that they are becoming quite the capitalists.
As early as July 2008, the web site’s CEO, Gong Haiyan, disclosed that the company was planning to get listed on the Nasdaq in three years.
Jiayuan.com right now dominates 50% of total online dating services in China, and if it succeeds in getting listed in the Nasdaq, it is hard to not believe that with all the new capital it will attract, that it won’t be able to keep it’s number one online dating status in China.
